    Motor Hood

Have a 1997 Mercury 225 and I can't get the motor hood off. It only has a clamp on the front. Any ideas how to get this off?

It lifts up at the front a little and then pushes back about an inch,no latches at the back. The cowl can be incredibly stuck to the gasket on the front so you’ll need to man up on it.

unlatch front lift up at front just lil push forward on on lower back of cowling pick straight up ,warning they are heavy ,sometimes its easier to get off when tilted and standing on back deck , wait till you pick up a early opti glass cowl

Also as stated in another thread you might want to spray the gasket with silicone or the RV gasket slide lube to assure it hopefully doesn't stick so tight next time.
