    Fury4 on Z21

    Hi guys,

Wonder if anyone has tried a fury 4 on this hull. Mine is a 2007, with a 2007 opti 250 xs. I run this thing heavy, 5 batteries, two talons and fish the great lakes predominantly. I have a tempest 25, decent prop, but feel I can do better. Boat isnt the best for lift but handles itself well on the big water. My RPMs are about 5600 to 5700 and I think I need to be getting north of that to get this thing right. Wonder if a four blade fury in a 23 or 24 would be better to carry the load. I am not a speed freak as the great lakes don't very often let you open her up, so hole shot and mid range is important. Not to say I would like to see over 65 if possible. Right now 60 to 62 loaded, 2 guys loaded with tourney gear.

    Thanks
    Ken

I don’t have any experience with that setup but I’d go with the 23 fury 4. With how heavy your running I don’t think you’ll regret it.

I run a 25 fury 3. Z21 and fish Erie a lot. I can touch 70 light. Run mid 60s easy. Need room to get upper 60s. No talons and only 4 batteries. Best part I can cruise about 17 mph on those nasty days.
I have always wondered how a 24 fury 4 would be.

Ken you have one of the early strong running Opti's. With a properly trued up Tempest+ 25P 3 blade that rig should hit 6000 rpms in summer and bump 70 mph occasionally in winter. I went thru allot of 3&4 blade props including a lab finished Bravo. The 25 was the best.
The hull is weight sensitive so loading it up can kill the lift especially if you load heavy up front. My 2009 Z21 lifted just fine with the Opti. It now has a V8.
