    360 stopped working

So I have Standard 360. Before it took about 5 minutes to start up. But, now it won’t start at all. Got power, Ethernet hub is good. Anybody have any tricks to test the transducer to see if it bad? Any advice on how to make it work or test it are welcome.

When power is first turned on, it vibrates and makes a buzzing sound. Has to do at least that to work.
Be close with your hand on it. Only does it for a second or two.

Power comes directly from the battery and the same source that powers the 360 powers the fish finder. Fish finder works. The power wires from the Helix and 360 are twisted together and connected to the battery wire with butt connectors. It has to have power because the Fishfinder works.

So, if I verify I have power like I think I do and it still doesn’t come on. Will humminbird repair it?

I ran into that problem with my old transom mount 360 and I found that it had not retracted all the way or had slipped down a little and it was dead. I pulled the unit down a little and then pushed it up as far as I could and that solved the problem.

Upon closer inspection it looks wet around the are where the pod is bolted on. Looks like water but, smell weird and seems like some sort of extremely fine oil maybe. Guess its toast?

The pod is filled with acoustic oil so the SI piezos have contact with the housing. Sonar doesn't work through air, need a liquid medium. Several have had the oil leak issue.
Some take the pod cover off and fill it with mineral oil to make it work again rather than pay the repair charge.

I had a pinched power cable on my 360 which caused problems. Double check your power cable.

Will being low on oil cause it not to start?

From what I have seen posted, the scan line still rotates but no image is produced.

Well I dropped the pod and it was less than half full of oil. I filled it up with mineral oil put it back together and it still doesn’t come on. Guess I do have a power issue somewhere.

Wayne, So after you told me that low oil would not stop it from coming on I went back and verified I had power going to it. I unplugged the connector to check and power was there. I plugged it back in and it started working. Guess for some reason or the other had a bad connection. I checked the plug and it looks fine. Dont know......... Guess I know what to do if it stops working again. Thanks for all the help.
