Just bought a 1000 lb steer and was wondering after its processed about how many lbs of meat to expect roughly. Need to buy a big enough deep freeze.

300 to 350lbs of meat. May weigh out a little more depending on how its cut(boned or bone in).
The ones we have got the last ten years have run about 425 to 450 pounds in the freezer.
Boning a 1000 lb. on the hoof steer out you will get between 45%-55% of the total weigh in useable meat depending on the fat content.
It really depends on a lot of factors such as the cut of meat you are getting.
This is about the right way to figure it. Your cow weights 1,000 pounds. From that your carcass will be about 62% which would be 620 pounds. After cutting up the carcass you can figure around 55% to 70%. So that ranges from 341 pounds to 434 pounds.
Like I said the finale amount is subject to cuts of meat, fat layer and marble etc.

when you see this on the water stop and say hi.
62% of a 1,000 is 744? Hmmm. We must’ve gone to different math school
How much does that cost you

Breed makes a difference!!
Grab all the offal, heart liver, tongue, kidneys.
Best dressed out %age probably close to 57.
Guaranteed you won't get all steaks.
Enjoy.
Breed does make a difference as stated above I thought about 60/65% is what I was always told.
.
Hanging weight is 63% of one on the hoof. 1000# steer on the hoof is approx 630# and you can figure around 60% (give or take) of that in meat after deboning.

Lol hit some wrong numbers, thanks for pointing it out. Been cutting up our beef cows for over 20 years. The percentages I used is an extremly accurate estimate. I will go back and correct my terrible math mistake.

Might be a dump question but can you put 400 lbs of meat in a freezer at one time and expect it to freeze fast enough?
Depends on whether it's got beef nuts or truck nuts.
Don't bother me, I'm screwing for virginity.
I killed a 12-pack just to watch it die.
Right now freezers are still hard to find in inventory. Might want to look and buy any freezer you can find. Or, order one with a reasonable delivery date.
You know what the cheapest meat is? Deer balls....
they are under a buck.
Sorry I'll leave..
I just bought some meat from a newish farm in the area. He told me that a 1300lb steer would net 500 lbs of meat.
