Z520C with Merc 250 Pro XS setup

I realize this topic has been discussed on here before but am just looking for some final clarification before I go and spend a bunch of cash on a new prop.

I have a 2014 Ranger Z520C with Merc 250 Pro XS, and 25P Fury 3. I bought the boat last year and the prop has visually had some work done to it. I can only get about 65 mph (about 5,500 rpm) with it but put on my buddies brand new 25P Fury 3 last fall for a day and hit 70 mph no problem.

75% of my fishing is done on big water (Mostly Lake St. Clair and some on Lake Erie). So my question is should I buy a new 25P Fury 3 blade for the boat or would a Fury 4 be my best bet since I fish alot of rough water? As long as I can still hit 70 mph with 2 people that is fine because half the time up here you can't run wide open anyways because of the wind and rough water.

    Thanks for the help!

I would go with a 24 Fury 4 blade and you should be 68-69.

I agree with dblume. I have the same setup as you but a 2015. I run a 24 Fury 4 and love it. Hole shot is great and consistently see 68-69. Faster than I need to go and has excellent hole shot and lift.

Ok perfect thanks for the responses.

Are there any Great Lakes guys out there running the Fury4 24P on this rig?

So is the Bravo XS 25 a 3 blade prop? And what speed do you get with it?

I hear the Fury 4’s are good except a few guys up here say they have thrown a blade on them before. So not sure if anyone on here has had that issue?

The Bravo XS is a 4-blade prop.
