    Drain for recessed pan

Ok guys, I need some help. I cut the hole for my recessed pan yesterday. I knew the front compartment was going to extend under the pan, I just didn't know how far. It's almost 7" into the cutout. I was able to cut through it and that wasn't a problem. Seeing I was already into the compartment I was thinking I would just let the pan drain into it. I can't do that because I have less than an inch between the bottom of the pan and the bottom of the compartment. The front 20" of the compartment is only about 3" deep (I hope I'm explaining it so you can get a visual). This pan didn't come with a drain to attach a hose, but if it did, there's not enough room between the pan and the compartment. I can cut through the compartment, but then I'm below where it needs to be. Second thought was to cut through the foam that I have access to and run the drain hose down through the bottom of the boat and it could drain out the bilge. I started to cut down through the foam and stopped because I'm not sure what I'm looking for down there. I hope this makes sense and someone can give me some ideas. Thanks in advance.

Coyoteprinter, If you remove the bow panel and look straight down you should see a PVC drain tube that drains into the bottom of the hull. When I installed my recessed an I moved the drain in the pan to the front attached the hose and ran the hose into the PVC tube. I plugged the other drain to keep the center storage box dry. Hope this helps.

I removed the panel and I can feel a pipe, but I can't see it. It seems like the top of the pipe is higher than how the drain hose would have to run. I think I'm going to have to relocate the drain in the pan. No problem, I'm just not sure how the water will flow into the top of this pipe. Do I need to remove move foam and expose the pipe so I can tap into it at a lower spot?

I bored a hole forward into the foam to drain it out into the tube that runs down to the bilge in mine. Not sure how yours is setup, but mine came with fittings and 8' of drain line. Pics would help.

Dig down through the foam to the hull of the boat,in the center. You should find the pipe running up to the bow. Cut a hole in that pipe big enough to accept the pan drain pipe, then insert the pan hose into it.

So, if I continue to dig I will find this pvc pipe? How big is this pipe? That's what I started doing yesterday but stopped. I was afraid I was doing something wrong and with my luck, I would damage the hull. Never having done this before, I was a bit timid.

I dug at it with a lockback knife, wonderbar and used a tire iron to bore the hole through to get to the PVC tube, it's about 1.5-2" diameter. Do you have a bow panel you can remove? I would say you need to be careful, but I'd think it would be hard to damage the hull if you're doing it by hand.

Yes, I have already removed the panel. Am I better off digging straight down below the pan or more on a downward angle towards the panel?

On mine, I just dug it out straight down. The PVC pipe is 1-1/4 or 1-1/2", appeared to be SCH40, and installed right against the keel line. I drilled into the top of the pipe with the "right size" drill bit and screwed a barb-to-1/4" NPT pneumatic fitting into the plastic pipe. I installed a barbed fitting on my pan and ran a section of Tygon with a bit of slack.

on my 374V I ran my hose down into my front compartment and right into the fitting that leads to the drain at the rear of that compartment if yours has one not sure . Can you post some pictures of this front compartment or the cut out so I have a better visual idea . Do you have a drain hole in that front compartment anywhere originally???

As you can see, the front compartment comes almost halfway into the cut. I believe it sits to high in relation to the bottom of the pan in order to have it drain
properly. There's literally no room for a fitting on the pan.

Where is the drain located on your pan and how deep is your pan?

Because of the shape of my front compartment, I can't get to where the cutout is from the inside of it. The drain is located at the back 1/4 of the pan. The pan is 4 1/2" deep. Between the bottom of the pan and the compartment is less than 1".

Ok, thanks to your help I found the main drain pipe for the boat. I just had to dig a bit further. Seeing I have to drill a new hole (and it can be any size now) for the drain in the pan, does anyone have any recommendations for drain hose size? The hole that is in the pan now is 3/4". Seems a bit big, but I don't know. I'd just like to be able to easily find fittings. I need to find something for the pan that will fit flat on the bottom.

Pedal tray, passenger rod rack and other DIY stuff (bbcboards.net)

This shows how this person setup his drain line on a tray that didn't come with one. There are some other general posts that show a few different setups.
