I'm leaving to come home tomorrow. No bed sightings for me. the fish in the RIM canal are still +10ft deep. It was smoking hot 5 days this week before a mini-front went through yesterday. The locals tell me that this is the coldest January they can recall. Water temps before the front were 72-73 but apparently the fish still have early January cold on the brain.

I had to search to find any clean water on the main lake. When I was down in November the water depth was 16ft beccause of epic rains and I think that must have killed any hydrilla that grew up over the shallow summer.

High water has changed the fishing and areas for me. Clean water can be a challenge. Traditional spawn areas are dirtier than usual due to excess water entering them. The wind direction seems to be swapping direction constantly. With all that being said there are fish to be caught. Just need a few constant days and it should light up.
The lack of numbers of bucks constantly coming in has me concerned for the future. Fishing pressure is high and the bucks have been beat on for weeks which limits number of bites but they are there in places.
Seems to be a trickle of big girls moving in and out. As always there is a chance to catch a good one any cast.

The pressure on Big O is unbelievable these days, and as big as it is, it fishes pretty small this time of year.

There are beds, but the water has been more clear than normal for me. The constantly changing wind directions and the fact it’s always blowing 20 has been a big factor.

I never really understood fishing for bedded fish anyway unless you was in a tournament. Each his own I guess.

Well, we had a rough trip. Fishing was terrible. 37 degree mornings and the wind was awful. We had a blast and made up for it with the food. Also, my boat got tail ended by a high as a kite, naked women indian, who decided afterwards to run through a mile long construction site and lead police on a 14 mile chase. Short video of some of the highlights.
