I need someone to take picture of gas tank and battery compartment so I can see how its all laying in the rear. My 83 was completely stripped of everything. Thanks!!

It doesn't have to be a 168, they were all the same that year.
Center tank(s) Two troll batteries on left (port) side, starting battery and oil tank on right (starboard)

Thanks Pat I believe the gas tanks were connected in the front and made by Inca who is owned by Moeller. If you would look for new tanks who would you contact. How would you connect the 2 tanks and total gallons of both tanks. Thanks!!!
I have never seen a 168 with dual gas tanks. There is not enough room in there unless someone modified it themselves. Mine has 1 tank, 13 -15 gallons with a top hole for the float and electrical connection for the gas gauge.
Polock I believe it was shaped like a upside down U, 1 tank ran down the port side and a crossover going across to the starboard. The center was open to get to the pumps, hoses and live well open close cables. When you get your boat take picture. Here is picture of what I think it looks likechampion-boats-2181724.jpg just like Pat said.
That's weird looking. I never saw a double in a 168.
Picture is too small to make anything out, even on my 23" monitor
TxChamp I agree, but I cant remember where I found picture. It appears to look like what Pat said, 2 batteries port, two tanks in middle connected, and 1 battery and oil tank starboard.
Has a 85 18 superV was set up like pat said if I'm remembering right the tank held 18 gallons.
My first champ was '84. Every single boat I ran had dual tanks. It was a tight fit for 2nd tank when they were in the center before they went to the open center U shaped tanks. After you used them a bit, they'd swell up and it takes a engine lift to get them out. Not a great design.

If it was stripped of everything, you can set it up anyway you like.

Weight in the rear is very important. I want it equal across the back. Im sure Champion engineered the weight to be equal across the rear.
You should see the 201's of that era, nothing consistent except that they were in the back of the boat. On my 89 the flat part of the tank was against the live wells and is this shape ] on a 90 it is just the reverse with the flat part facing the stern like this [, no rhyme or reason.
He's kinda in a bind, if he gets tanks from a scrapped boat, they'll be swelled up and won't fit without a lot of effort and KY.

A used tank full of crap does not sound good.

img001.pdfNot sure if this will attach or not. copy of Pic from 1985 Sales Brochure shows rear comp lid open and tank(s) setting in. Also shows the various options offered that year for various models.
FYI, from the 1985 sales brochure. The tank(s) in the 17'6" are set up as the picture shows. They are also set up this way in the 18'4".

All boats of that vintage are identical.

My boat had an in-dash humminbird. The transducer is still attached to rear boat floor. Will an older dash mount Eagle Ultra work with this transducer.
