    03' 250XS Digital Trim Help

I have an 03' 250XS (S# in sig) I put a new trim sender on. I think it's a digital one. I don't know what I need to get it into the smart craft wiring. Attached are some pic's of what I have. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I should add that I have a little black box from Mercury that goes from the smart craft blue cable to NEMA that connects to my Solix at the helm. I'm hoping to see my trim on my graph.

There SHOULD be a set of color-matching wires right up there by the oil pump (or down near the pitot sensor). Blue, Yellow and Black (or Black w/Orange Stripe).

I couldn't find any matching wires. Attached are some pictures. Have I missed something?

I think I see one of the wired in the lower right hand corner of the second pic. Look for bullet connectors

I suspect that the accessory harness has been removed from your engine. Just behind the oil pump (in the first picture you have in Post#5) there is a rectangular plastic plug. Are there any wires coming out of it, or is it just a cap?

Is this a SIX or an EIGHT position plug?

Aha. You are missing a portion of the engine wiring harness, which is why you do not have the color-code matched wires there.

859244T1 is the piece you need.

Ok, got the cable, plugged it in and connected the leads from my trim sensor on the motor and now I have trim on my graphs! But, what do I do with the other end of the cable and the little pig tail plug?

Also, is there a calibration I need to do? When trimmed all the way down, it shows 16 or so. Should it read 0?

That lone 3-pin plug is for the PITOT sensor (which appears it may be right there below the starter still).

As for CALIBRATION: That is a function of a Primary SMARTCRAFT INSTRUMENT. What method did you use to get data to your graphs?

Ok, the PITOT sensor would be for speed? Like I'd connect the PITOT tube from the lower unit to it? I see the sensor you're referring to. As for as the method of getting the data to my graph, I have a black box that outputs the NEMA to the graph. (hope I used the correct terminology)

Yes on the Pitot- Pitot is "analog speed input via pressure signal".

Need to determine if you have a "Gateway stick" or possibly a Vessel View LINK. The Gateway Stick does not allow for any adjustment or calibration of data (simply sends the raw data to the NMEA-2000 network).

I'll take a picture of the gateway I have tonight. I know it is NOT the vessel view. Can I just tape up the open ends of the cable?

Well... Guess what? That is a Vessel View LINK.

What GRAPHS are you using at the console?

Well, you learn something every day! LOL. I thought the Vessel View Link was the bluetooth thing. Anyway, I have a Solix 12 Gen 1.
