Like many of you I was very concerned when Evinrude announced their exit from the outboard business. Among other things I was worried about whether they would really provide good warranty service going forward.
The lower unit of my 2016 G2 250 HO failed a couple days before Christmas. The dealer submitted my warranty claim right before they shut down for the holidays. I was afraid I'd be off the water for much of January. However a replacement lower unit was shipped right after New Years and I was back fishing January 8.
I don't know what warranty service will be like a few years from now, but I was very happy with how they handled my case. Just thought I'd share some positive feedback.
FYI the motor had 371 hours and had been very well maintained. I have lower unit service performed every year. The dealer said it was unclear why it failed.
