Hub removal on a Merc 250 ProXS 4 Stroke

I am sending my prop to Mark for a blueprinting and can't get the flo-torque prop hub out of it. Is there a trick to this? The hub is on a Mercury ProXS 250 four stroke. Any advice would be appreciated.

If It's the new SSR It's a PIA.
I use a round piece of nylon to drive it out and the 2by to drive in. I figure a 1" deep socket with an extension will also work to drive it out. Has to be sitting on something solid. Once you get it started have to put a couple of blocks under it.

You can drive it out with a regular socket on an extension. Can use a deep well impact socket if you have one. Socket needs to fit on the outside of the sleeve. Keep hitting until it jars out. Use a heavy hammer if you have one. It will be stubborn at first buts gets better once it moves.

Not an option for those who fish different lakes and conditions and need to prop accordingly.. Or just want to try a better prop.

Well, I finally got it out. Thanks to everyone on here and on the FB Mercury Owner's Group. Went and got a 1-1/16th socket and a long extension and used a sledge hammer to beat it out. Hope I didn't damage it. Thanks to fishnfireman for the "blocks" advice. They were definitely needed. Off to Mark the prop goes. I have to question the design of this hub though if it takes this much effort to get one out of a prop. Thanks again!

Put Quiksilver marine grease with 2-4-C on the rubber portion of the hub prior to inserting in prop. Makes it easier to get out next time.

Mine has gotten much easier after 150 hrs on the motor and multiple changes. I can tap it in and out now.

Use a solid racing hub until you get the prop dialed in, Then install the ssr hub
    Thank You Leon Pugh
