    Networking a 106 and 126 ????

Tying a 106 and 126 with transducers and livescope and steady cast.

Do i need a RJ45 and a NMEA 2000? or will one work vs the other?

I bought both but do both do the same or should certain things be hooked certain ways?

    Thanks for the help....

Sonar is shared over ethernet. Garmin Network Cable.
    SteadyCast is shared via NMEA.
So you'll need to do both.

So NMEA is basically for tying components to gamins. The RJ45 is what connects the 2 units to each other. Really looking for help from you tube or Garmin and not finding it. Seems kinda redundant to use both I guess?

Will I be able to use and view different transducers like live scope and the new 56 from units that are not directly tied to that unit?

NMEA is for components like heading sensor, gps antenna, engine data, radio, temp probes, etc.......the RJ45 is for waypoints, routes, sharing sonar, etc. THey both do something different things. If you dont plan on having a heading sensor, gps antenna or any other N2K components, then no need to install the N2K network.

With the RJ45 (marine network cables) you will be able to view transducers on any unit that is connected with the RJ45.
