    300 V8

    Found a 2019 V8 300 Mercury Racing with 146 hours for $19,000.
Has a sport master gear case with 175 gears. How are these motor
running on a 21XRD? I have a 300XS on the boat now so not expecting
    a whole lot of difference.

I should have my 21XRS with 300R by Tuesday I hope. 2020 with less than 100 hours and 2 years warranty left. Maybe I can give you some info in a few days.
Frankly on top end with both set ups tuned in I am doubtful the 300R is any faster than a 300XS. I suspect the mid range may be stronger with the V8. JMO

Low end tourque is increased mid rang is better. And you can turn some really big props. I'm not sure about the XRS. But they run good on XD. SSTs and SS boats. It appears they like hydraulic jackplates to help keep from blowing the props. On the hole shot.

Mine is a solid 2-3 mph faster than my previous 300XS 1.62 SM DBR 1.1 motor & midrange acceleration is much better. Holeshot is about the same. Running the 1.60 SM case 300R on a 21SDC. Same prop 29 Bravo1 XS.

I have a 2019 on my xrd. Best choice I ever made. Running a 31 max 5 st 1 3/8" above the pad. Best loaded with 2 people, full fuel 30 plus rods bunches of tackle and toolbox is 95.4. Usually between 93.5 to 94.5.

I’ve been dealing with the same issue for a while. I have a great running very low hour 300xs and is it worth it to make the trade out?

I’m so poor, I can’t even pay attention! I need to see more out of this motor before I pull the trigger. I’d like to know why the 1.60 is being a pain compared to the 1.75 (especially with all the claimed power and torque) and how is this motor going to do with the test of time. Being a V8, I’m sure there will be enhancement kits like the DBR for the XS and maybe some that will be even more impressive. The V8 allows for more improvements. I’ll wait a little while and see the outcomes or if any new eye catchers come along.

My problem is, (I think) nasty quick out of the hole and real impressive through mid range. My son
Chris (Mach 1) took my boat out and smoked an Allison with a 300 V8 out of the hole and mid
range. I have the DBR 1.4 kit in mine so there lays the problem. Plus I have 10 props that
    would have to go.
