Still at it and I got my first striper

Went down to the Housatonic River this past weekend for some holdover winter stripers. Had a couple of friends from the Beast Coast team that live down that way trying to get me down there the last few years, so instead of hitting Candlewood again, we trailered down to the river for something different. THAT was a blast, and we did terrible for numbers for what the river is known for. Everyone else we talked to said it was a slow day anyway, which is crazy because some boats still boated over 100 of them. BUT, what we lacked in numbers, Andrew and I made up for in quality. I had three keepers and a bunch of 20+ inchers. Andrew had three keepers, one went 33" and his biggest went 34" at 17 lbs. Slow rolling a-rigs out there, feel a thousand bumps as it rolls through the insane number of fish, until you actually get slammed by a bite. Too much fun, going back down again this weekend to give it another go.

Insanely fun, and insanely easy too, like shooting fish in a barrel.

It was a blast. Threw my A-rig with a 1/4 oz head on bottom, 3/16 oz head on the three middle wires, and a 1/8 on the top to keep it upright. Threw a Reaction Innovation style swimbait (can't remember what brand) in 3.5" long on every hook, all 3/0. And tossed it on my baby swimbait rod, 8' Heavy rated to 3 oz, with 50 lb braid on a Lew's Super Duty 300

Looks like a good time. Catching fish this time of the year is always fun.
