How you like to fish? Lot of good lakes in that part of the state.

As Joe said, there are a lot of lakes to choose from in that part of the state. My favorite is Lake Wawasee.

Loon Lake, Barbee Chain, Tippecanoe, Wawasee, James Lake Chain, Hamilton Lake and a bunch of others. Might pick up the map book. Most of the lakes are fairly good to fish, and around the warsaw area it is easy to hit more than one lake with a short drive. North Central has more lakes close to each other.

Any "do or don't" tips for someone not familiar with this area or these lakes?

Wawasee don't go on a nice weekend

Some of the smaller ones are idle or 10mph only, but usually posted at the ramp. Some of them are unlimited for part of the day, and I try to stay off of them if they are like that during unlimited time because they are dangerous to fish.

I didn't list palestine because it is farther west.

If you can get on it, webster is a good bass lake. Have to avoid the musky seasons, or there is no where to park. Really a lot of good lakes in the area.

PM me if you are looking at specific lakes, I've fished most of them.

Salamonie hasn't been very good the past few years. Not certain why. Joe (Cubswin) fishes it off and on. He can give you a lot more info than I can. I usually go there once or twice a year. Did no good there this past year at all.

It s a tough lake. I fish tournaments there, and a limit always has a chance to win. Decent quality fish if you can find them. Mississenwa is same way. 8-12lbs won every tournament, and was very few with more than 3-4 limits out of 12-15 boats made up of guys who have fished them for decades.

I enjoy fishing both lakes, but they can make you look stupid week to week. And it changes every year.

    Live 10 minutes from both.

I love it, go out and practice and be on fish all day and then blank. It is great lol. I'd tell my little club (well kinda club) classic, but it would make me look too stupid.
