I am thinking about repowering my 206 with the Suzuki 250 SS. Please give me your thoughts. Pros and Cons?
I have priced Yamaha, Mercury and Suzuki and they are all very close in price with installation.

I always heard they were quite a bit cheaper, seems odd that you said they priced similar.
cons: slower, harder to prop, a bit heavier (unless they lightened them since I last looked)
pros: they say they are reliable
Zuks are a excellent workhorse engine. The lower unit gear ratio is a oddball and it can run props 1-2 pitches higher than the others equally powered.
Look up the Team Marine guys from Lacrosse WI on YouTube or better yet give them a call. They love Champs and they love Suzukis. I'd bet they could help you prop it, I know they like Solas Scorpions on the 250SS.

I don't think you could wrong with any of the 3 brands listed. Who has the best dealer support in your area would be my question along with what your boat is already rigger for.
Don't underestimate the cost of all the setup of the new controls going from one manufacturer/generation of engine to another.
If you go down to Florida and go into any major bay or canal..... 9 out of 10 engines are Suzuki.
If you can get it serviced near where you live, go for it imo
Call Sun Coast Marine in La Porte. Talk to Chris Hughes. That engine is about as good as they come, goofy with props, but it's worth the headache. Next new engine I buy will be a Suzuki. As mentioned, every crab and shrimp boat you see with an outboard on it is a Suzuki and they run them all day, every day.
you see a TON of Suzukis on rental boats too. Indian Point Marina at Table Rock Lake has at lease 100 of them!
Haven't owned one, but spent a day with Brandon Card. Couldn't see the speed but the thing ran beautiful and have heard nothing but good things.
That from a Merc guy.
Mercury Pro XS !! Made in the United States by fellow Americans. And they run great also.
SHO baby, buy the best and get some rest.
Repowering is an ugly pricey deal. The thoughts of my 2 repowers give me nightmares. And those were easy with the same brand of engine!! I wouldn't hesitate with a suzuki, great reputation. Along with merc and yammy. Gotta look at dealers and service available near you. If I ever got into a big boat again, I would add Honda to the list.

I just sold my boat with a 250ss this fall. That engine was flawless for 800+ hrs. I can't say that about any other brand motor I have owned. It will require a big prop. I ran a 29 pitch to get my boat to the low 70s.

If/When my engine blows on my 206 I’ll be repowering to a SHO only because I already run Yamaha so will save money with controls. If I had a Mercury I’d be getting a Zuki. Those engines are workhorses man. Very very very reliable.
did you re-power?
