    early season WI lake suggestions?

The forum is dead, we need something to talk about!

Since our lovely state still hasn't imposed an early C&R season, what are some lake suggestions for hopping over the border into WI? Preferably something within 2.5 hours for a day trip. I know super secret honey holes won't get disclosed, just looking for some common knowledge, not so secret recommendations to give it a whirl after ice-out until mid-May when we can finally fish here.

    Fire away!

I can't really help. I went over there once, long ago. Got kicked in the d**k...weather and fishing sucked.

My advice, go west to another bordering state!

I agree, West would be better and can have the chance at some really massive smallmouth.

I'm looking into west as well, trust me. I'm just asking about something closer for a day trip is all.

Any of the lakes in St Croix and Polk County are enough to "scratch the itch", but I've never had any banner days over the border.
