    1973 johnson 4 hp

    Looking for the head bolt torque pounds for this unit. Have to replace the head gasket. Can't seem to find them. I can get the part though.

    Model is 4w73c

    serial is e3720149

    Start at the center and work your way out. Use 3-4 steps leading up to max torque. After a couple heat cycles, re-torque. Be sure to coat threads with 2 cycle oil.

    Apply thin coat Evinrude/Johnson gasket sealing compound or equivalent on both side of gasket. I use Permatex #2.

    Thanks for the info. I know it need replaced due to the top of the block beign wet with oil and dripping down the sides. I'm just glad I can still get an original part! lol
