201 Pro XL Console Graph Mounting

Picked up a 2003 201 Pro XL. Gentleman that had it since new never upgraded electronics. Still has Lowrance LMS 332 in dash and same up front. Doesn't seem like a whole lot of good areas to mount a bigger console graph. Where and how is everybody mounting their console electronics on these boats? Thanks in advance

I have an 05 201 and it had the same units. I used a ram mount on the ball D rated to support the weight of the helix at console. I also have one on the bow deck. This winter I am switching over the front ram mount to a deck mounted plate. The ram mounts are what hummingbird suggested when I had the 1197'a and also for the helix.

I also have a Ram mount with a "D" ball. Haven't mounted it yet. Where did you mount it and what length arm did you use?

I have a 2005 and unless someone fabs a custom mount there aren’t any great options for the console, its all plastic unless you built a support that gets to solid fiberglass. Some guys have done some but I’m not confident that long term support of a heavy graph isn’t going to crack something after time. I use the original lowrance for depth at speed since I haven’t changed out my through-hull transducer for Garmin. I went with a Balzout mount with a 9” arm for a 12” Garmin on the console and it works great. Had a heavy ram mount but I get tired of the movement unless you wrench it all the way down. I went with the precision outdoors dek-it stacker mount on the bow. Upgraded to 2 graphs and the ability to offset the top graph to clear the TM was the reasoning. Anyway, it all works out and I wouldn’t change anything out at this point.

I mounted my console HDS 9 on a long arm ram mount. On the bow I added a TM pedal pan and a Dek it mount for my carbon.

I have my 1198 on the larger Ram mount, the long one that's like 11" or so. Due to the weight of the 1198 I have the arm resting on the shroud. I've seen some that have used a BallzOut mount inside the console, attached to the fiberglass behind the in-dash unit to make a "custom" dash mount. But if you need your tach/speedo, that doesn't help much.

I think it is a 6" as another member posted their picture of the 1197. That is where I mounted my ram mount. Also as mentioned I am going to fabricate my own bracket for the front deck.

I have the long ram mount for a helix 10 mounted where the Rod tips would lay. It holds fine except real rough water where it will drop to the shroud.

Here is how I have mine mounted. Don't mind the mess in the boat, that was prior to being organized.

Thank you to everybody that replied. I will be fishing Lake Erie quite a bit and am afraid of some of the mounts that mount in place of the LMS 332. Like some of you said, there is not a lot of support for a heavy graph and I think over time it could crack the console. I believe I will end up going with a RAM Mount or a Balzout mounted on the right side of the console like a few of you had done. Thanks again for all of the replies. Steve

I made this mount out of aluminum plate with another aluminum plate behind it to sandwich what little there is on the dash to mount to. I fish Erie a good bit, solid as a rock

I put a Balzout long arm in mine and it’s rock solid. I’d never own another ram mount, especially on Erie, unless it was the swing arm style. Ball mount just moves, doesn’t matter how tight it is. I’ll toss a pic of my balzout tomorrow.
