    2020 ProXS 225 prop question

Should have given this info previously. I have a 2012 Legend Alpha 199 SC. It’s 19’10” with a weight of 1590lbs. Max hp is 225. I just bought a new 2020 Pro XS 225. It came with a 25p Fury prop. Did the break in today but maxing the trim and Jackplate I could only get 5500. Should I go down to a 22p or 23p?

What boat, etc. Do you have a Hot Foot? Sounds to me like your hot foot is out of adjustment and needs to be calibrated. Look on the Mercury forum you will see lots of discussion about this.

Or the 23" would gain you about 400 RPM. I would have them look at the calibration of the throttle.

You should be around 6000-6200 WOT.

Way too much prop for that motor. Unless it's one of those lightweight "go fast" boats. Ranger, for example, has been putting a 23 Fury on their Z519 boats from the factory. I have an old 2007 Ranger Z19 that I'm repowering with a new 2021 225 Pro XS (old 225 Pro XS 2-stroke quit on me after 460 hrs). Work hasn't started yet but I'm thinking a 23 Fury or 23 Tempest Plus is what I will need to replace the old Tempest Plus 25 that was B&B'd by Mark Croxton. He thinks I need a 25 Tempest on the new motor for better bow lift over the Fury. I'll break it in with a 23 Fury and then try all three (23 Fury, 23 Tempest and 25 Tempest) after it's broken in.

You still running that Legend 199SC?
