    Thats too bad.

Hey, if you get some time again how about recording side/down at different scroll rates to. Those images look a little squished.

It is, might be a blessing also, I think the gt30 might actually identify fish better.

The lake I was fishing has a lot of cuts on it so every time you make a turn you get that. And I think the transducer being on a pole on the bow might exaggerate that also. I think I read over in HB forum they talked about matching the scroll speed to the boat speed and the what I normally try to do, but I will play around with it some more. Thanks .

Ya, I always forget which one does what......slower scroll unstretches, or other way around

I like the GT30 which is what I have. I'm debating whether to spend some extra $$ and get the GT36.....see in the Electronics sale page where a member can't sell his GT30.

The update (2.53) made the gt30 a better transducer not so much the gt34uhd at least for me.

Update.? Is your 30 connected to the GCV20? I guess using the 8612 doesn't hurt the images either....

No, both are are plugged into the unit. The gt34uhd into the 8616xsv and the gt30 into the 8612xsv. Why? Did the update not go into the units also? I only ask this because since the update the gt30 is out performing the gt34uhd in picture quality now.

I may be wrong (wouldn’t be the first time ) I think that’s the latest update number (at least for the 8600s)?

I’ve been debating this also. $400 sure would go a long way towards Garmins soon to be announced livescope .

The gt 30 is a power house with good detail ,but the gt34 in shallow water 20 feet or less and out to 55 feet on side is the best I have seen for spotting fish and structure on my 1242.
