    TR21 HP question

I’m trying to decide on upsizing to a 02 TR21 225 Opti (my dads rig), for more storage room and handling rough water, from a 01 TR20 200 ProXS. I have a bit of a hot rod nature, so I still like to “go fast” when the desire hits.

I’ve been contemplating a TR21HP due to it still being a fast rig with a little bit wider deck. I’m ignorant about the particulars on the HP hull. From my understanding, the HP’s came in a standard “HP” and HP-X, etc., is this correct? If so, the difference?

Next question... what year models and speeds are you all seeing (GPS) with the HP’s with 250 two strokes tournament loaded vs everyday light-moderate load?

    Thanks in advance...

Im not much help on the hulls, but my 03 tr21 light loaded will touch 80mph on a good day. Usually tourney loaded im about 72ish. But i run heavy.

    I have a 2014 21 HP with a 250 Pro XS, 10 inch plate, B&B 26p Tempest Plus
Its an 80 MPH boat with a light load
77-78 with 2 people and a Tournament load

I also had an 03 TR21 with the 225 Optimax like your Dads
it ran 74 light and 72-73 with 2 people 10 inch plate 25 Trophy

The speeds are the same basically if the TR21 had the 250
but the HP hull takes a little more effort to drive (I believe it the difference in a 4 blade and a 3 blade prop)

The two boats are close enough speed and handling wise that its almost a wash
The difference is the decks and the storage
    The 21HP wins hands down

Thank you for your response... that’s exactly the info I’m looking for. I’m accustomed to driving our rigs, my TR20 used to be a handful and the 21’s I drove were like Cadi’s in comparison. Now didn’t Triton build an X-HP? Curious the difference

I cant really help you with the X-HP as I have never had one
I believe the differences were the deck sizes and internal layout

All of the HP boats had Vortex hulls but they were stretched or widened to fit the dimensions of the boat's cap
All of them are fast with a proper set up

What prop you running and setup for motor? I have an 04 with 04 opti and I can’t get over 71 with 27 tempest. Just got a 26 cuz that’s what mark croxton told me I needed and it’ll only go 64 at 6k. 3 inch ptp
