Santee water levels - low falls area

Hey guys, spending the winter by lake murray in SC but plan to take a trip to Lake Marion for a change of scenery. Planned on launching at low falls, don't plan on running much, if at all, just idling and fishing. I have a walleye boat so I draft a little more water and was wondering if being down 3.5' I can still get around or do I need to go to a different area/ramp? It has been 20 years since I have been on the lake so I am not remembering many details of the area:).

    Thanks for the help

Lake right now is 73.4 ft, and looks to be still dropping. You can launch at low falls, just be careful. Packs might be better option, more area to just trolling motor around. There are MANY stumps that are normally not an issue but when water is below 73.5 can be very dangerous, even idling. Good luck if you go and have motor trimmed up.

Lake Murray is very good jigging spoon lake in the winter. Stripers, bass, perch. Might want to give that a try too!

It may be tough going from Low Falls down into Stumphole…..especially when you get to Halfway Swamp. Jus gong out the cut into the river should be no problem.

It will be to low to go from Low Falls down to Halfway Swamp/Stumphole,but you can put in at the public Stumphole Landing & idle about 300 yards across the flat to Stumphole .

Most of the time,it is close to about 10’ depending on the lake level. It should be about about 6’ now,but it is a good bit shallower on the upper end of that flat as you go towards Low Falls. It is dangerous to run that flat or most anywhere else on the lakes now.

Thanks Inky, always wondered. I figured it wasn't safe to run, out of all the times I've fished stumphole I've never seen anyone running it.

I run it when it’s a little higher but idle stretches of it.There are many people that run it when the water level is higher.I can run most of Stumphole through one end to the other.

I just saw pics taken at the Duck Pond launch ramp. It’s dry! Looks like they pulled the plug!
