6.4:1 for me
I use 6.4-1 for most moving baits.

Depends on how deep I'm fishing. 7 ratio less than 5ft, 6 ratio 5-10ft, 5 ratio deeper than 10ft
Many guys say 6:1. I normally run a 7.3:1. Works well for me
6.3:1
I make and use chatterbaits all the time. I found I like the faster reels. I sometimes reel slow and other times I burn it. All depends on the bass. Sometimes they like it on fire going through the water.

6.6 or 7.3, doesn't really make a difference to me

Any faster and I find myself burning it/pulling it out of the water.

I started fishing vibrating jigs on an old Lew’s BB-1N that has a 4.3:1 year ratio and retrieves 19” of line per turn. Then, I switched to the new Lew’s reels with a 6.4:1 ratio that retrieves 25” of line per turn. I immediately noticed that I got a lot more short strikes on a vibrating jig, especially from smallies. So, I entered to a new Lew’s reels with a 5.1:1 gear ratio that retrieves 21” of line per turn and the short strikes went away.

I like 7-1, these days that isn't fast. Just a middle speed that let's me speed up and catch up when needed but can easily slow down as well.
6:4.

The Daiwa Steez A in 6.3:1 makes a fantastic vibrating jig/spinner bait reel.
.
I like a 6:1. I feel like for most folks, myself included it’s a lot easier to speed up if necessary with a 6:1 than it is to slow down with a 7 or 8:1.
6.3:1
I mostly fish them in 1-5ft of water, and that speed works well for me.

7 or 8:1 for me... I control the speed myself.

I was talking to David Fritts yrs ago , at a boat show in his prime. He only fished 5. 1.1 gear ratio on all his retrieves baits.
But I some how got to fishing them on higher ratio reels ,doing the yrs. Was going thru some reels this week end and find to 5.1.1 reels . Going to gave them a try .
