Exclamation New Solix Software Update 3.890 Posted on 12/7/2020

A new Solix Software Update was posted to the Humminbird Solix software update page today. Following are the details:

    Software Update - SOLIX Series v. 3.890

    Released 12/07/2020
    Software Description

    PLEASE NOTE:

    • This software update is not compatible with ONIX models. If you update to this software on your SOLIX from 3.350 or older, your unit will no longer be compatible over the Ethernet network with ONIX.

Once you unzip the file, you will need to follow these INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO UPDATE TO V. 3.500 BEFORE updating to 3.890, below. No damage will occur if 3.500 or greater is not installed, but the update will not be successful.
    • Once 3.890 is installed, the factory recovery will be updated to 3.890.
    • You will not be able to recover back to previous software versions.
    • The defaults will be restored when 3.890 is installed.

Anyone having issues extracting the zip file?

All the other files seem to be in the unzipped folder but I get this message for the r3.3.890 and its not there

(C:\MY-HUMMINBIRD\Solix-Updates\All_SOLIX_G1_G2_Files_3.890_RevA.zip: CRC failed in solix-unified-app-r3.890.upd. The file is corrupt)

I tried downloading it with 3 browsers

My download and copy of the 3.890 failed when copying it to a memory card. Stopped at 797 MB

Then just to test, I copied 3.500 and it did load to a memory card.

Yes, I'm also getting an error. It bombs off on the Unified 3.890 file... of course, the most important one. I have a feeling the file is corrupted in some way. Once I downloaded it, I did a factory reset on my Solix but then when trying to extract it, I get the error. I've tried downloading it to my computer as well as my phone. Same thing on both devices. I can download it but can't extract. I tried moving the one Unified 3.890 file from within the Zip and get the same error.

Definitely something corrupted with the file... Dang it. Once I downloaded it, I did a factory reset on the Solix. Now I can't get the software onto the SD card to install the new SW. I also checked the FishSmart App but the new version isn't showing up in the app yet. Guess I'll be stuck in limbo until I can talk with Humminbird in the morning.

Wayne P. reported the issue to Humminbird. They have now pulled the update off the web site. Will watch for a corrected one to be put back up... Hopefully soon.

To be honest I didn’t expect an update till at least march coinciding with the release of mega live

One thing I notice is they don’t mention the Temp Offset bug that has been there since the release of the G1
They confirmed the bug almost 2 years ago and still no fix

I was expecting an update since it was needed for the Solix G3 as well as networking connectivity to the Apex in January.

Must be more than just a corrupt copy or they would have had the corrected version up already

I called Humminbird yesterday and all they would tell me is that they were working on correcting it. I asked if they could just email it to me but they said they couldn't until it is back on the web site.

I'm also surprised that it isn't back up yet. I already did the factory reset in preparation for the update and I really don't want to spend a bunch of time setting everything back up only to have to do another factory reset once the SW update is back on the site.

Must be my fault I mentioned the Temp Offset bug so I’m sure they are taking the time to fix that before they post the new update

I am sure you are correct. There are several line items that could include that fix though. You will have to wait and see. Bob

    Just finished the first unit
Install went well and took about 20 minutes just for the update
Did not take me through the first time setup so have to do that

Just installed the update on my Solix G2 SI+ and it took 19 minutes from the time I put the card in the slot until the unit booted up. Everything appeared to go fine. As was mentioned, it didn't go into the first time setup. Maybe it isn't needed but I launched the Setup Guide from the Home Screen tools... You have to click on the "All Tools" at the bottom of the screen.

I'll have it out on the water tomorrow and will report back if I encounter any issues. Keeping my fingers crossed that this update fixes the Sonar Recording issue I have had with the G2.

I hope it fixes the sonar recording and sonar sharing issue as well...waiting on my boat to get out of the shop to get the G2's updated and otw. My hb rep still wants an otw call to do additional troubleshooting and I'm sure he'll want the latest update to work with.
