    Time to refurbish the Outlaw

Well I finally decided I was ready to totally refurbish my Outlaw. I am removing all the carpet, having the top and sides gelcoat redone. I had them fill every hole in the boat and going to start over and rig it like I have wanted it for sometime. IMG_0059 (1).jpgIMG_0054.jpgIMG_0061.jpgIMG_0060.jpg

They certainly have their hands full getting the carpet out of the compartments! I am also having the stainless panels powder coated in a matt black to match the cowling on my Suzuki.

I would seriously consider center mounting the troller. Really improves the look!

It was ok looking but it was showing it’s age on the gel coat and I wanted the carpet gone. There were a number of old mounting holes. Now it will be like a new boat.

Definitely keep us up to date with photos as it progresses. Are you changing the color scheme?

I considered changing colors but decided to leave it. The one thing being done is the flake will be a prism so when the sun hits it there will be a lot more sparkle.

What kind of speed are you getting with the Suzuki vs your previous motor?

Well I have decided to change the colors after all. I am going to go with the smaller flake .08 instead of the 0.15 flake that was original. I am also going with a combination of Red, Gun Metal, Silver flake and adding the Alpha Jewel into it for the sparkle. I never ran it with anything but a Suzuki. I had a 150SS on it at first and upgraded to the 200SS this past year. My gear case still has the 2.50 to 1 gear ratio in it. I am going to change out motors when it comes back to the newer 2.00 to 1 gear ratio. I am running low 60's right now and can spin a 3 blade 27 pitch 14.5" diameter prop and put it on the rev limiter. I have an 8" atlas jack plate on it as well. It's not that fast but sips fuel and is so very dependable.

I am pleased with the compartment doors. They have the base coat on them. They will get the second part of the process next week. compartment doors 1.jpeg

I am not going to put carpet back in it. The entire floor as well as inside the compartments will be sprayed.

They got all the compartment doors sprayed and they look awesome. Now they will spray the new gel coat on the boat and then the coating inside. Once they finish that it will be time to rig it again!

Just curious why you wouldn't do a seadek type material as apposed to the tough liner style?
