    Copper Water Tube Seal

What's the proper method on installing the rubber seal and copper water tube ? What goes in first ?

    99 Merc 175 EFI OG947018

I've put the seal into the plate first but then I can't get the water tube fully inserted.
I've put the seal onto the water tube and tried to insert from the top of the plate and it feels like I'm gonna tear it up.....

    Thanks
    Gary

Normally install the seal into the plate from the TOPSIDE, lube the seal with dawn dish-soap or 2-4-C and insert the water tube from below.

If you're using a custom water tube (suspect you are), double check the OD against the original tube.

    Hi Don,

I don't have the original tube, I have the tube Chapman supplied (.622-.624 DIA.) so I have no idea what the diameter of an OEM tube should be.

Gary- I should have one in my hands later today or tomorrow, so I'll get a measurement on it.

Not to state the obvious... but remember that the hard plastic side faces UP (and the beveled/rubber end faces down).
