    Hot foot removal

So, my 372V came with a Hot Foot installed. I HATE IT! I'm an old school guy that has driven boats my entire life with hand controls. I understand the reasoning for having it, but I don't run 100mph and I don't need it. I can't get used to it and want it off the boat. I think this is a job I can handle. My question is, the hand control that Mercury is calling the
Commander Classic Panel Mount needs to be removed so I can hook up the new cables. Everything is hidden behind the wall of the boat. I can't figure out how it is removed. Does anyone have any experience with working on these?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you sure the shifter doesn’t have the old throttle cable still connected? Hot foot needs a longer cable so most times the old cable is left in place and is rolled up in the bilge or still under the engine cowl. Look for it first, those shifters aren’t easy to remove but can be done.

Basic idea of removing a side mount control is to remove handle (nut behind "throttle" button or allen screw on bottom of handle, remove cover plate covering the 3 or 4 screws bolting going through the fiberglass and into side mount... On my 374 it slides forward towards the console and easier if I remove the livewell controls and fuse box.
