    Carpet time!!

Looking to replace my carpet in my 2006 stratos 294 pro. Need to figure out what weight carpet to get. Anyone have any experience with the 294 carpet? Also thinking about putting traction mat down in the center deck instead of carpet like the new rangers have. Anyone done this to their stratos or any other boat and if so what mat did you use and where did you get it?

    Eddie,

I just recarpeted my 06' Tracker PT175 and I couldn't be happier with the results. Mainly due to the carpet I used which was 24oz. Syntec. This is the the oem carpet which Ranger and BassCat are using. It can be purchased directly through Bass Cats web store. They are limited in colors however but I went with the standard charcoal gray (Storm) and it looks fantastic. Hope that helps and good luck.

Recarpeted my 2006 294 Pro XL last year....used 20oz syntec instead of 24...used alot of the 3m Spray adhesive for the lids...it's kida like spray contact cement....good stuff...used regular carpet glue for the decks and floor....also took advantage of a bare front deck to cut it out for a recessed trolling motor tray...best thing i've ever done.

I don't know who makes the carpet, but the Bass Cat Carpet you buy direct from Bass Cat is just about the best quality carpet I have used.

You don't want to do this twice as it will take you 40 hours of labor to do the whole boat.

I would use 24oz as you won’t ever get your lids open. I would recommend the 20oz carpet they use in the ranger aluminum boats. I’ve used it for two years now and so far so good. I’ve already did three champions and just had a guy pick a hydro sport up today. You can order it from any ranger dealer just ask for the carpet used in the aluminum boats.

You may want to talk with another person or call a dealer. I have a roll in my garage and one on order. I’ve put in a lot of carpet and it’s 20oz. Maybe the lady is from white river marina and looking at the carpet in the tracker aluminum boats. I do know they use 16oz in them but it’s 20oz in the aluminum Rangers.

If you do the 24 oz use a hair trimmer to shave the inside edges to help close the compartments

if you go 20 oz you will do this again in 7-10 years

I have done about 10 boats including a 200xl and a 294, I agree with using an aerosol contact cement for the lids. It is much quicker, used weldwood or 3m. The floors and deck I would use contact cement in a gallon can. When the to parts touch, they will make a mess when you pull the carpet apart. tape off anything you don't want glue on.

I just finished my boat. Put in padding on front and back deck also. Did it all with Weldwood contact cement in the gallon can.

I have bought 20 oz grey carpet for my boat. If I have to redo in 10 years there will be way more to do then just the carpet.

I know BassCat carries 1 bicolor grey/blue. Any other dealers that sell blended color carpets.

I just purchased 20oz carpet from bassboatseats.com. They have several options and colors. Can't wait to get it installed.

I have a 520z ranger. Talked to a guy that puts it in said 30 ft. Said it had to go in same line or it would show.
