Very nice thread. Never would have even heard of these. Looks like a good deal. When I'm in the market for a new reel, I'll go with this.

What does this reel weigh in 8.1 ratio, would you consider it a 100, 200 or 300 class reel?

    Deal?

    How fantastic is this?

Great to have this kind of vendor on the board!

Exactly my thought. I may be looking for a new reel in the next few months, and if I do I might have to get in touch with these guys.

This thread is great. I’ve always been happy doing business with Sportman’s Outfitters. Bought a few things from them through the years; mostly Daiwa reels. I wasn’t considering the Bruin reel but I am now. I’m interested in hearing the feedback.

I'm pretty sold on the daiwa reels, but I also like sportsmans. Actually brought a daiwa from them a few weeks ago.

Looking forward to the review, maybe it will convince me to try one.

    1. This isn't a Chinese reel. It's made in Korea, by the same folks that make the Korean built Lew's and Abu.
    2. The $349.99 "MSRP" is to establish this reel as comparable to the Lew's Pro TI. Wait... it's not comparable... it's better. It casts further, it has a more powerful drag, and it's also saltwater rated.
    3. We developed this reel along with Paul Elias. It took 5 years to get it right, and then another year to perfect it. It was brought into the market to give the average fisherman a top shelf reel at an economical price. If you guys really knew how much Daiwa, Shimano, Lew's, were all making on the products they sell, you'd be sick. We've taken all the middle men out... and going straight to consumer.
    4. Comparing the Tatula CT to this reel is like comparing a Ford Focus to a Ferrari... there is no comparison.

Give it a chance. If you buy, try it, and don't like it, we'll take it back.
Can’t beat that. I’ve bought a lot of stuff from you guys before, and always been happy. I’d give them a try if I was in market for some new reels.

I too have purchased many reels from Sportsman's Outfitters and will be purchasing about three more in the next few weeks. Always a great price and great service.

I agree 100%. I’m a Lews guy and have about 16-17 setups and currently in middle of changing Rod mfg and replacing my reels. I’m a die hard Lews guy and I’ve bought my last 3 or 4 from Sportsman's Outfitters and everything went smoothly. I’m really digging the new Tournament MP. On my Kaden series and Sierra series rods. My only negative on the Bruin is the looks. Granted I’ve never seen one in person but I’m sorta OCD and that color is just not my jam. I like a nice flat black or dark gray. But, From what I’ve seen in this thread tho it is legit performer enough so the retailer will offer up the 30 day trial. Don’t think they would do that with some brake squeeling, Knob wobbling, drag slipping, back lashing junker.. I will also say I’m impressed how they responded... Nicely done Sir, nicely done.

I’m no expert but it’s a very nice reel for the money, it feels solid and controls are not mushy and the drag is nice and smooth. As for casting distance I didn’t notice any more or less compared to a tatula sv. Overall very nice reel, I doubt they will get any returns.
