If a heater is built to operate on a 20 lb tank, can it be converted to run on a 1lb tank?
Ridgid 18v hybrid forced air heater, is the tool I'm asking about.

Yes. A hose adapter is all you need. Run time will be really short tho.
Looking to use in my boat, since I have ridgid batteries.
lugging a 20 lb tank is not an option.
The 20lb tank hose has a regulator built in, how would the 1lb hose adapter work in this situation ?
I would just a get a big buddy heater.
I would just get a buddy heater as well and carry the 20lb tank.

I've got a buddy heater, they won't stay lit unless it's indoors.
Get a milk crate for the 20lb tank, they are pretty damn portable.
There is a small black box on it, 2 wires coming off of it. Open it up via a screw driver, take the ball out, bend the flipper to smash the pressure Swidden at all times. Dam thing will stay lit rolling down the driveway. I have done this. Have not tried this but it almost seems like if you connect the two wires this would just bypass the switch I spoke of.

it depends on what the flow rate required to run it is.

Mine has a pilot light, that will not stay lit if there is the slightest breeze.
Maybe yours is different.
I believe the switch hack u mentioned, is a safety device that shuts the unit off if it falls over.
I did the reverse years ago on a mini grill. My neighbor worked for the gas company and set me up with a hose he made with the fixture for the big tank. If any place sells a mini grill that runs off the small tanks you should be able to use the hose from a unit like that.
Thx guys for the tips.
I found the answer on another site, but I don't know how to post videos.
I can't imagine what could go wrong with a combustible source of heat in the boat.
