Many dealers will charge a transfer-in fee, as they know you're buying it cheaper elsewhere. Had one hit me for 80 (55 over negotiated) on the transfer in plus 35 for the dros. Not much you can do once you pay for it and get it shipped in except never go back.

Sportsman Outdoor Super Store beats Bud's prices on every gun I purchased. Another I have used is GunBuyer.com

CA currently has a mandated $35 dros fees an all, but the dealer can charge anything on top of that for a firearm that was not sold at the location and was transferred in. This is why it's sometimes beneficial to buy local.

Lot of local places in my area have jacked the prices up, knowing there is a limited supply and a bunch of demand. Tried to buy a gun locally a couple of weeks ago. Local place had it for $100 over retail. Told them I'd pay MSRP, but no more. They refused to budge. Got it online, saved $400.

Most of the local shops around me have lost they damn minds. Average of $150-200 above MSRP and $60-80 transfer fees.

I've switched to dealing with home based FFL's. Got a guy up the street from me that'll do $20 transfers and below MSRP on firearms.

Those greedy *****s in storefront's can KMA.

If the gun show loophole really existed, how could these stores stay in business charging $35+ for transfers?

Every gun show I've been to had guns that were waaaay overpriced. $35 was a drop in the bucket compared to their prices.

I have one time and the transaction went fine. Ordered the gun and waited until I got notification the store received it. Then went in and did the usual paperwork, etc. The one issue I could see is if your picky about which gun you purchase and you are the type that need to see 2-3 before you choose just the “right” one before buying.

I’ve bought several off gunbroker and a few from Palmetto, no issues. Most local FFL’s get 20-50. I use the $20 guy!

I checked all my local places and they can't get guns in due to the demand. They ones they did have in were all marked up at least $50 to $100. Even if I could find one ammo is just as hard to find. I'm retired so looking is no problem and one of these days I will be in the right spot at the right time.
