    which one to get?

So I am either getting the Garmin force or Ultrex.. I have both Bird and Garmin on the boat and have been running a fortrex for years. I want to ugrade but I know a little bit about both..
What are the pro's and con's of either one..
Garmin seem's to cost a little bit more from what I have seen..

    Thanks

First thing is witch brand graph do you plan to use for Charts / waypoints
Using the same brand will offer more options/features

Ultrex has a longer track record and some time to work out many of the bugs
they have a great warranty and Service centers
It will bolt up using the same holes that your fortrex used
Pedal is more like what you are use too
    Better remote than the force

Force is a brushless motor that means less moving parts and slightly stronger motor
    it has a wireless pedal
As for the warranty garmin states that you need to have it installed by a authorized dealer/service center or they will only cover the cost of parts (Not time) for warranty work
I have heard a lot of people breaking the plastic nose cone on these
The motor housing seems rather large and has a lot of plastic

As I have only owned an Ultrex I can’t speak to performance comparisons for the spotlock, GPS, auto pilot and so on

I recently had a total Garmin upgrade. The Force footpedal is wireless. What this means to me is that every so often you have to pull the pedal and replace the batteries. It can also be installed direct wired. That's what my installer did. Batteries drive me nuts. I like the Force BTW, but maybe just because it's new.
