Hey all,
After a lot of contemplation, I am looking to move to Garmin from my current Gen 2 Humminbird Helix MEGA/Lowrance 2D set up and need some help from you experts. I am currently running 2 Helix units and a 360 for SI/DI and mapping and a 12'' HDS for 2D on my console and HDS Live on my bow. I ran this set up to try and maximize the tech of each company as I like certain components of each. I have had technical issues on and off with my Helix and Im at the point of wanting out. I Bird has their LIVE coming out soon and my units arent compatible anyways and feel like it would be a good time to dump them.
Ive contemplated waiting for the Active Target but I dont trust Lowrance as their Livesight was awful. That leads me to you all.
I dont know much about Garmin, and until recently hadnt even looked at their units. The Livescope that everyone gushes over has me thinking. I typically fish Erie and St Clair for smallmouth 80% of the time. I like many of the features but dont know enough about the products first hand. Is the GPSmap series worth the extra money over the 95SV UHD? I assume the GPS series has faster processing as the main difference and Radar? My set up COULD be a Garmin unit on the bow for LVS/mapping and a console unit for SI/DI/mapping keeping my HDS for 2D?
I know its impossible to keep up to the changing technology, and who knows what is about to come, but I think based on what I have it would be a good time to start looking.
Thanks for your help
