    Caliber of choice

In regards to whitetail deer hunting whether it be rolling hills and farm land , timbered ridges or open fields, what's your go to, get the job done caliber?

For rifle you can hunt whitetails anywhere in the county a 270 but for all around large game elk, moose, whitetail etc... 30-06 is better

I'm a recoil wimp and prefer short action so it's 7mm-08 or 6.5 Creedmoor for me

I used both 30-06 and 308, I feel the 30-06 is better. However they both work just fine.

I do also like the 7mm-08

Odd it that every deer I've shot with a 30-06 fell in the spot i shot it and the deer I've shot whit a 308 ran 50 -10 yards before dropping. For that I give the nod to the 30-06.

Have used .308 for years. Went to 6.5 Creedmoor last year and not looking back. Looking forward I'm building a 6mm ARC rifle that has a lot of potential.

Right now whatever ammo you can find . I have used them all it seems. from .243 up to the big magnums. .270 or 30-06 are my top choices. .308 is right there with them

.243 has served me very well through the years. My kids use mostly 6.5 Grendel and it has done great as well. Most recently I have switched to a carbon fiber barreled ultralight 6.5 Creedmoor.
