I didn’t say it’s a widespread issue but the Internet forums and Facebook pages have enough people getting new trannies in these trucks that it starting to be a concern for those that own them.

Everyone likes the power though as far as I can tell.
Our public works dept. has a 7.3/10sp in an F550 dumptruck. PW beats the snot out of their equipment....no issues (so far). As to the mileage, no one buys a big 8 looking for good mileage.

Once my 2014 Eco gets tired, the 7.3 will likely be my next truck.
I could care less about mileage.

True, but when I'm ready to get one, gas will probably be $5.

It’s already rising rather quickly here, up .30¢ in a week.

Finally someone built something that gets worse mileage than my 6.4 Ram gas motor!!! Makes me feel much better.

Back in the day I had a Super Cobra Jet 7 liter engine in a 69 Mercury Cyclone CJ. That car was fast and had gobs of torque. I am sure this version is much more sophisticated.

Bought a F250 new in 85 with the 460. Burned a quart of oil every 500 miles right off the lot and was told thats normal for a big block ford. It had twin 19 gal tanks and you could watch the gas gauge move.It had under 200 hp and went thru egr valves. It did start to use less oil after a while but still a quart every 1000.

Burning that much oil is unacceptable and certainly not normal, the egr is just a minor issue, easy to delete so you don't have any more problems.
