    Humminbird transducer

Recently purchased a boat and previous owner had G2N units on boat and upgraded from SI to MSI. He gave me G2N unit when I bought boat and I noticed in the box he did not install new transducer when he upgraded to MSI. Is there any difference in the transducers or is the CHO what allows you to have mega imaging?

BTW, CHO means Control Head Only= doesn't come with a transducer.

MEGA stands for MegaHertz. Humminbird's is 1.2 MKz or 1200 kHz. The CHIRP range is 1000-1300 kHz or 1.000-1.300 MKz.

The standard transducer for the Helix 9 CHIRP SI GPS G2N is the XM 9 MSI T. It has the MegaHertz frequency. The unit does 83/200 kHz 2D sonar, 455/800/1200 kHz Down Imaging and 455/800/1200 kHz Side Imaging.

All G3N models have HW CHIRP 140-240 kHz 2D sonar no matter if they are CHIRP models, Down Imaging models, or Side Imaging models.

G2N and G3N transducers are not interchangeable directly.
