    Ulterra black strip

Has anyone else had the black strip come off? On an Ulterra, It’s on the flat side of the shaft. And what should I do to fix it? Thanks in advance for any help.

That's the belt that raises the motor up and down. It is not supposed to be attached to the the shaft.

Well ok then that belt is broken and fixing it or replacing doesn’t look easy. Any knowledge on that would be appreciated.

    It’s anchored in the head.

There is a tension adjustment as well. Check your owners manual for instruction, but it’s easy to adjust.

If it has come loose from the anchor point in the head, you can fix that, too, but it’s slightly more involved. Do not Stow/Deploy or trim down if it has become detached in the head.

If the belt is actually broken, which is unlikely, an Authorized Serviced Center will be needed, unless you’re really handy, and can order parts.

As stated above that black belt is the trim belt. If it detached from the motor end then it is pretty easy to install back in place, if it came loose from the head then there is a certain way it goes back in. I would bring to an ASC and have them look at it. They will replace the belt if need install it and put the correct tension on it.
