Are the gas tanks in the very rear of the boat?
Does it make it some what bow high when fishing, like a 99 203 Champion?
Is the ride and quality of boat really what has been said about them?
Thanks,
Les Ems

Yes there is one 42 gallon plastic tank in the rear compartment. I have a 47" shaft Ghost trolling motor and have no problem, so IMO bow does not sit too high. Front deck sits fairly level. To answer your third question, YES. Mine is a 2009 manufactured in 2008. There is not a new hull on the market today that I would trade my Alpha for.
Probably your next question is 'How does the boat handle?' I am running a 25" Fury prop 3 1/4" prop to pad. Loaded with me top speed 70-71 mph, I guess, that's when I let off. Too damn old to go that fast. At that speed I can remove my hands from the steering wheel. No chine walk. With full tank of gas, full livewells the boat will plane at 1/2 throttle. Boat will plane with my 220lb buddy sitting on the back seat. Have had on several occasions full tank of fuel, full livewells me at 230lb or so, 220lb buddy and 260 lb buddy sitting three across and the boat has no trouble coming out of the hole. I can not speak of other Alpha 199s, just mine. I don't think mine is any different than the others.
Thanks RFSims. I am looking at buy this boat and I have run startos 201's for years always happy with the ride and performance of them as well as a 99 203 Champion-except for the bow high when fishing, and a 2000 202 skeeter and a 2001 225 skeeter which I was happy with ride and fishability.
They ride very well and are fast as well. The only complaints I’ve heard of it’s spider cracking sometimes and there’s not much room in the rear hatch when messing with batteries and chargers etc

Hope this helps
I guess in order to replace any pumps you have to remove the gas tank? That sound like a B word.
You don't have to remove the tank, but I did to replace the livewell drain valve. Empty tank is no trouble and I'm 69 with a fused lumbar.
Mine has a 32 gal tank with way more room than pic. Plenty of room to get at pumps. Web page shows a 42 gal tank.

The previous owner of my boat when it was new did a review
I was the Midwest factory rep. for Legend 2005 - 2009 and I had several demo boats but the 199 was my favorite to demo and drive. I always told customers that the LE 21 and Alpha 211 were like driving Cadillacs and the 199 was like driving a Corvette. Take a test drive if you can and I guarantee you will be impressed.
