    Blank Recommendation

My wife wants to buy a rod blank for me for Christmas and I’d like to stay around the $100 mark. Itll be my first casting rod build and mainly used for Texas rigs (1/4-1/2oz), a jig here and there, and weightless senkos. The lakes i fish have pretty Light cover (lay downs, sparse pads, docks, some milfoil) so not any hardcore mat fishing.

the two rods I’m tossing up are:

    RodGeeks Carbon4 7’ MH

    NFC X-Ray MB736

just curious as to what the builders on here would recommend. Open to other suggestions as well

    Blank Recommendation

I have built a number of rods on the NFC X-Ray blanks. For your application i would recommend the SJ736 over the MB736.

The SJ736 has a faster tip and a little more power mid-blank than does the MB736. The MB736 is more suited to 1/4 texas rigs and 12-14lb line. Both are excellent blanks.

yes the SJ736 is more to what you might want.. that said the RodGeeks C4 7' MH is a stout MH as all St Croix blanks are.. a fine blank..
