    Rod recommendation

What rod what you recommend for Ned/neko rig? Looking to stay at the $100 mark. I was thinking something that was medium light. What do you guys think?

I’d suggest a Fenwick Eagle, Fenwick HMG, or a Lews TP1 6’9” ML. The eagle is a wicked rod that only costs around $70. The Lews is decent but I’m really not a fan of the handle, but some love it and it’ll make a good Ned rig stick.

Would you guys recommend a <7’ or >7’ rod length for my application and why? I’m leaning towards like <7’ not sure exactly.

I have a pair of those, I bought about 5 years ago, clearanced at Walmart for $30 each. I use them for light crankbaits (such as Rapala Shad Raps) & small shallow jerkbaits (such as Lucky Craft 78sp's) i personally think they are too moderate action for ned rigs.

I'm using a 7 foot 6 ML Shimano Intenza for my Ned rigs and really like it. The longer rod really helps casting light weights a good distance. It' paired with a Ci4+ for a really light outfit. Like it a lot.

Ark has a 7’3” ML in the new Cobb Series. It’s on sale at Tackle Warehouse for about $70 right now.

Ended up with the ark Tharp series meterman 6’10” ML/XF. Is that a good choice?

Can't speak specifically to the Tharp series, but I had a Ark Sniper 6'10" ML XF and it was a great drop shot rod for the price. I got it on sale, but I think it would have been a good value even at full MSRP. Soft tip for working the bait and very good sensitivity. I hope yours works just as well, good luck!

I've been using the St Croix Mojo Bass dropshot rod. 6'10 ML. For $129 it's a good deal. I picked up an iRod 731S (7'3 ML) to try but it's just too good of a dropshot rod that I haven't tied a ned on it yet.
