Showerblows and Sammy’s. Showblow’s has caught more fish for me this year.

Always have been a spook user. I picked up some Yozuri pencil DB3 for 2 bucks at Walmart. I did pretty well with them. Walk nice. Still feel the spook is the gold standard.

There’s something special about the Evergreen SB. It just looks like a real shad spitting and flipping on the surface. It’s worth the money.

I never saw the need to try anything other than a spook. They just plain work.

Interesting topic...IMO this is one area where a variety works. Different rattles and cadences of the lures can make a big difference. Size matters too. I also think it helps to throw something different than everyone else.

    Having said this...

I'm partial to the Super Spooks in standard and jr sizes. If the fish want the bait a bit faster switch to the Sammy versions which seem to walk a little sloppier.

I've seen times that fish would only eat gunfish.
Last summer my kid flat killed me using a Sexy Dog fished along side my Spooks and Sammys.

Pencil Poppers are overfished in my lakes and seem to be on a downsing vs a few years ago,
