    2011 - 1980 Hydrasport 158 Vee
    2012 - 1995 Nitro 180 FS
    2013 - 2008 Nitro 901 CDX
    2016 - 2013 Nitro Z9 SC
Only due to the Z9 being T-Boned on the road.
    2017 - 2017 Nitro Z21 SC

I learned to fish from the hydrasport and 95 Nitro. Decided to start local tournament fishing when I went to the 901 CDX. Started to win locally and wanting to fish regionals went to the Z9. Have since won one ABA Open Series regionals in the Z21 on Ticonderoga and a regional team circuit stop on Cayuga. We all evolve differently but that's been my boat buying journey

I'm still on my first boat, a 2008 Skeeter SX 180. It serves my needs pretty well, but I would like something bigger. I bought it in 2013, and it's all paid for. I might go another couple years before I get something a bit bigger.
I am serious. And don't call me Shirley.

I buy brand new. My last three:
    1993 - sold in 1996
    1996 - sold in 2018
2018 (purchased at a good discount after 2019's were out) - still in garage

I bought my first new boat in 1990 (new Lowe 1600V 70 hp 'rude), my second boat in 2004 (used Triton V176Mag with a new '90 Optimax) and my third boat in 2014 (new Ranger RT188). Total expenditures of $30,00 that does not include electronics (pretty basic) and electric motors for all three. Damn, I've been cheap!

my first boat was a 1995 ranger and kept it until 2014. reason was that I had stuff dry rotting on me about every trip and I don't fish much. So that equated to something breaking every trip. My next boat is likely when my current starts to give me reliability issues. Certainly any boat can be fixed but to me it is the frustration of having my special and relatively rare day damaged

I try to follow the Book of BBC Recommended Schedule for Boat Replacement.

Then add years for the fact I live in a short fishing season area and can't run it on ice

Then add years for the fact I don't need to run 80 mph to beat some Dudes to where a fish may or may not be.

I then check my financial records and see if that money is making more money invested in something other than a boat. Then check back in another five years to see if anything has changed.

1st boat sold after 13 years,

2nd boat - 6 fishing trips - i hated it. After spending around 200 hours rigging it, I just gave it to my neighbor.

Motor was brand new and had 1.5 hours on it. I learned that I can't stand in a 16' jon boat with my crap balance.

New boat in 1988. 27 years (2015)later I bought a 2009 Legend Alpha 199. Figure that boat will last till I can't fish anymore. I like my Legend hull and layout, 2 stroke Pro XS better than any new boat on the market and don't want a 4 stroke. Since neither are made anymore, no need to look for new.

Purchased my first last new boat in 2002, just received new seats for it that had been on back order 7 months. In the process of purchasing new last years model Lowrance Elite-9's to upgrade my 520 and 522 graphs. Will have a local boat top expert custom fit a boat cover for it. Next month I'll order new carpet. Have a good feeling this old boat will take me deep into my retired life in seven years.

    1987-1996... 12ft V bottom

    1996-2001... 15 ft Bassmaster Bomber

    2001- current... Javelin Renegade 19

33 years of boat ownership, with 3 boats so I am at a 11 year average...but that average number will go up if I can stick to my plans. I am currently 19 years in my current ride and hope to use it 20 more years then I am calling it quits.

I kept my first one a year it didn’t work for me, my second one 5 years. I bought my current boat almost 10 years ago and got what I wanted then. It still looks new and the motor had 105 hours over the summer when I had service done. With boat prices I don’t think I will buy another boat just take care of this one.

Years ago i could get my demo in the late fall and sell it in the late spring worked fine until i retired then they jerked it out from under me! Bought a new 18 520L keep it about 18 months and sold it, been with out a boat for about 18 months now, the property taxes in Ky eat me alive on my boat plus truck, 625 on my truck and about 1200 on my boat. I may just trying leasing a truck to get away from that darn property tax!!!

Mine is a 1999 TR21 and it is staying with me till I can't fish. The motor has been rebuilt and the trailer replaced. No way I am spending the money a new boat cost these days. But, that's because I am retiring in 6 months. If I was in my 30's or 40's I might consider trading every 5 to 10 years.

I would change boats every two to three years but my wife doesn't understand that logic. So I keep them a while.
