Brad how about some pictures of the hull where the bunks rest? I'm sure everyone considering these will want to see if that white residue is actually gelcoat being rubbed off. If it is, the bunk manufacturer will need to pay for your hull refinishing.

Here is the before and after of Tuff Bunks to Gatorbaks. There's no way Gatorbaks will scratch the hull and the customer service and install was second to none. I'll have Gatorbaks on all my trailers from here on out.

Based on the picture you appear to have some uneven contact points vs the bunks evenly supporting the hull? You may want to consider adding shims between the boards and mounting brackets to get even hull weight distribution across all bunks. I did that on my Z21 Intracoastal after switching from carpet.

I'm talking with them now. I would hope they'd do something. I would advise anybody that has Tuff Bunks to remove them immediately. They cause major gel coat problems in a short amount of time.

I'm interested if anyone has any more experience with this product? I need to replace all the bunks on my trailer and am debating just going back with carpeted boards or one of these newer composite types. I don't trailer my boat often as I keep it on the lift at my dock but I would like the opportunity to transport it to other lakes occasionally.

Are these the best alternative so far? I have also seen Ultimate Bunk Boards -- https://www.ultimatebunkboards.com/ which are 100% extruded polyethylene plastic boards and seem a bit cheaper as well. Should I continue looking for others?

Ray if the dealer guy didn't have the boat on the trailer available for him to get under it and look at the existing bunk mounting/positioning, I would be concerned about his statement to switch up to 2X6. The hull configuration/strakes dictate the bunk size and you would think the OEM choose the 2X4's for a reason?

Not likely. The use of 2X4's or 6's are dictated by the weight of the boat being supported and/or the configuration of the hull strakes running the length of the boat which are sometimes used to align the boat on the trailer.

Just now seeing this thread - I had an unpainted 17ft aluminum Bass Tracker and used the original Ultimate Bunk Boards for 5 years without any issues; recently sold it. They will flex a bit and after the first few years I noticed some minor warping in each of the two boards but it wasn't enough to concern me. For larger boats and trailers they offer their Supreme version with heavy-duty screw mounted aluminum rails. I'm considering getting the Supreme version for my new Alumacraft Pro 175.
