    Cherokee Early March

Whats the bite usually like in early March on Cherokee? I have never fished this lake and thought about stopping for a few days on my way to Chick.

Early March you will be at the mercy of the weather. I've had crazy good days shallow cranking when it looked like a cup of coffee. The issue is rapidly rising water and debris/trees when we get the early season deluge. I would put in 25e bridge ramp and probably not go more than a mile or so up or down the lake from there.

Early March we're still catching them deep. Damiki in the deep holes or tightlining steep rocky banks. Winter is my favorite time on Cherokee but April can be good when the smallmouth spawn kicks in. In early March you could have a warmer day or could be 20 and snowing, hard to tell. The last 2 years have not been good because of all the rain. By first if Feb we've had full lakes and muddy, not the idea conditions for fishing the deep bite.
