    Should u grease your thrust washer

    Mine was all dirty so I cleaned it up, should I grease it before installing it

    My mechanic said to never grease it. The shaft you grease, but not the thrust washer. He said something about the grease making it harder to take off next time....Not sure what difference it makes, but I don't grease it.

    On the old Mercury small shaft I would make sure to put a light coat of 2-4-C all the way to where the bevel was. As for greasing the rest of the thrust washer I see no need.
    With the newer fat shaft HD racing hub kit there is no thrust washer-- just lube the shaft.
