    2002 Mercury 225 EFI VS 2020 250 Pro XS 4 stroke

Considering replacing my motor with a newer version. I run a 2002 Intimidator and sit regularly on 78.5 mph with a tournament load. Wondering what numbers I should see if I bump up to a 250 Pro XS 4 stroke.

I have a 2000 Intimidator with 225 Promax running in the mid 80, I just purchased a new 250xs 4s and I don't care if I lose some mph, I just want the fuel mileage, can't wait it's in the shop now being installed, hopefully pick it up before Thanksgiving.

I know this was not part of your question but my 2001 Intimidator is only rated HP wise up to a 235hp. I would think tournament rules for overrated/over powered might be a problem. Also your insurance carrier might also have a problem with the boat being over powered with a 250. Just my 2 cents.

I just replaced my 98EFi 150 with a 200 Pro XS V8. I have a 1998 Intimidator 19' boat. Added Bobs Hydralic JP so I can play with heights.

The extra weight in the back caused me to have to move batteries forward. Boat was unstable as hell with so much weight in the back (3 batteries) Moved two forward.

Don't expect to be spinning the same size prop as your 2 stroke -- I predict you will settle on a 23-24 pitch 4 blade or maybe a 25 pitch 3 blade.

Fuel mileage is excellent, hole shot and midrange acceleration are epic, top speed not so much.
