    Possible outboard switch

So I was thinking if anything went south on my Yamaha V150TLRB I would consider taking the 2020 Suzuki DL140 off my pontoon boat and install it on my 2003 Stratos. Then upgrage the hp on the pontoon.
At this point its just something I'm considering. Probably way too much money and may negate my warrenty on the DL140.
    Good idea or Bad idea?

Does your pontoon have 20" transom as well? Personally, I'd probably put another 150HP on your Stratos once your Yamaha goes bad vice try swapping motors, harnesses and everything else.

20" transom? I have never measured it. It has 25" logs and the model# is 2085. I assumed the 2085 meant it was a 20' boat, but it is actually 22'. I read somewhere the model # also indicates the transom, so maybe 20" transom.
    No clue.

Whats the model code on the Suzuki? That should tell if its a L or XL shaft and is therefore a possibility to move across to the other boat.

Apart from the controls and wiring moving across, you would no doubt need a new prop as well.

I dont see any reason why shifting the engine between boats would affect the engine warranty at all? At most, you might need to have an authorised Suzuki service centre to sign off in the install, not sure about that, but a call to your local Suzuki dealer should quickly clear that up.

You might not be quite as quick with the Suzuki 140, but you will use at least 30% less gas and enjoy the peace and quiet, as you no doubt already know from using it on the pontoon!

Buy a lottery ticket. If you win buy the 200DF. I'm happy as a pig in poop with mine, just need a little bigger prop on my Stratos. I have accelleration like nobody's business but barely make 60 MPH on a 19'5" Stratos and hit the limiter.

The more I think about it the more I convince myself to keep the DF140 on the pontoon and then when/if my yamaha goes south I'll look at getting something more compatible with my Stratos 185. So far the VMAX 150 runs great and has more than enough power for my needs. It will do 60+ but I'm a 40mph kinda guy, lol. 50mph is flying and 60mph is beyond my present abilities
Still learning about outboards, but the carburetors on the VMax seem kinda old school and love the roar from acceleration. If I need to change out I would look for something fuel injected and 4 stroke, so A DF200 could be a candidate.
