    Faded Plastic Winch Cover

Shared this on Facebook to a couple groups and figured some folks here could use this life-hack as well. Bring that Fulton winch cover back to life with a heat gun.

I've done that with some automotive stuff. It works for a while and looks good. At some point it will fade again. Good hack though.

Same for me, works for a while. Also be careful how much heat and what else you heat doing it. On winch make sure you dont melt your winch strap at all. I use solution finish, its a black plastic dye then seal with a good plastic sealer. Also not permanent but lasts longer for me and is less dangerous in a lot situations then high heat .

You're drawing the plasticizers to the surface. Looks good for a while but will fade again, and the plastic will become more brittle each time you repeat the process. Surface applications such as Pro-Tec vinyl sealant or Mothers Back-to-Black work well and don't deteriorate the plastic.
