Regular Opti definitely doesn't have the balls of a Pro XS. Got a buddy that just replaced a 150 EFI with an Opti and I think the EFI had more power. Need to find what it takes to get the RPMs up in the power band like Pat says, or like you said, get a Pro XS or go to a 4 stroke. From what I've seen though Merc 4 stroke has more quirks than a SHO. Likes to run deeper with less pitch.
Make sure when getting prop that they put the ole "Champ Cup" in it as that is what lifts your boat out of water and up on pad. Try a 26p Tempest.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the compression is 125 new. 90 is a sign that it's just getting old; rings are wearing down -evenly which is good- and allowing a lot of blow by. For an Optimax 225 PRO SX is it really just a ECU swap out to go from 225 to 250 or what is actually flashing?
